RE: Best GPS System????

I have the Garmin Nuvi 650 you do have to connect it to the computer and update it on a fairly regular basis. I love it.

RE: A&E power awning won't open?

Gary,
Thank you for the reply.
We have discovered the problem. :S
We had just moved the motorhome out from under the RV Port to wash it and had the generator running and also was running the engine which hadn't been started for a while.
The awning will not work as long as the engine is running. :R

RE: Class A Windshield Covers

Does the color have anything to do with the privacy or sunlight coming in?I don't think so
Does that stuff ever stretch?I think ours may have a tiny bit but not really enough to notice
For a split windshield do you always get 2 pieces?Everyone I have ever seen has been one piece It doesn't matter if the windshield is one piece or two.
Are the twist lock fasteners best? I can't see how they could possibly be used with a 2 piece cover. We have the twist lock fasteners and prefer them.
Any other advice? We had ours made at our Snowbird location and they come right to your site to measure and then return to install them. All at a reasonable cost and they are custom made.

RE: Accident

I am so sorry to hear about your "accident". That is just awful! Accidents can happen so quickly.
Last Winter we came home from our Snowbirding for a Christmas visit. I was in a hurry and left some grapefruits at my Brothers door. I quickly turned and ran down the 2 or 3 steps to the ground. Somehow I slid down the steps and twisted my leg. I ended up with a huge sprained ankle and it took months to heal. I spent most of the rest of the Snowbird season really upset at myself for my "stupid accident".
Let this be a reminder for all of us to "slow down".
I hope you and your wife recover quickly.

RE: question for the people of age.

Well I can't answer for others. I can offer a possibility... everyone gets so wrapped up in their own lives that they forget to keep in contact with old Friends. I am guilty of that myself.
I believe this Forum and the Internet in general has made it so convenient to stay in contact with Friends both old and new. I have never met you but I often "see" you here on the Forum. I have heard you talk about Ann and your kitties and cooking, your dislike for Realtors, etc. So even though you may not hear from your "Old Friends" you have many Friends here on the forum who will be with you and following along as you go through your first Holidays without Ann. We are hear to chat or just listen. When asked we will offer advice/suggestions but sometimes we just quietly listen.
I think the party you are planning for November 11th is a great idea.

RE: Anyone Else Packing the Clothes Yet?

We are just starting to pack. Last night we ordered two cases of Margarita mix. Let's see 12 packages in a case X 2= 24 packages...
a package makes 2 Margarators full so that is 48 Margarators X 6 months..... hmmmm how many days... maybe that would be divided by 180 into 48. I don't know but I think it is enough?? Let's see Pawatt will be coming over..... yes, I think that is plenty. :B

RE: Cold feet....in slow motion....

Hi Andrea,
Just checking in to see how things are going?
I want you to know I have taken my own advice. We no longer turn on FOX/Headline News, etc first thing in the morning. You know what? We are much happier. I don't think it is putting our head in the sand... it is just that we cannot do anything about what is happening. My feelings on all of this is that we can afford to go south this Winter and that is what we are focused on at this time. You know the "One Day at a Time" way of thinking. I have started turning on the "Happy Music" again which I had not been doing for some time due to the fact that we are all in a worried state of mind. You know what? My little world is now a much happier place to be and I like it like that. :W
(I am checking the news late at night on the internet... I am free to read what I choose and I don't have all the drama of the news reporters :R :B )

At that price you should just continue on south from Oklahoma.

RE: Overnight Camping with 2 vehicles??

It all depends what the Policies are of the park where you stay.
At the park where we stay some sites have tons of parking and some in the older part have very limited parking.
We have lots of company (both from within our park and from other parks)and require lots of parking. Many in our park have golf carts. Golf carts are pretty common at winter destinations.
Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

RE: Retirement trip is over

Wow! I am so sorry to hear but so happy to know you are both safe.
I hope the insurance settles quickly and you are back on the road soon and headed south.
I noticed you had a delamination issue.... I guess that problem is taken care of. :R

RE: Cold feet....in slow motion....

Hi Andrea,
I understand what you are feeling/saying. All we are hearing on the news is all of the Doom and Gloom. It is just about as awful as 9/11.
We cannot get away from it. Like a train wreck we cannot turn away.
I am so looking forward to going south and being around like minded people and focus on having a great time with Friends both old and the new ones I have yet to meet.
As Snowbirders we are so lucky to be able to escape all the depressing things going on with our economy that we truthfully have very little control over. We will vote absentee and then head south.
I suggest you do the same.
Once you arrive at the Beach or wherever your Winter Destination is you will feel much better. Imagine your self sitting on the beach with a good book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other hand with the warm sunshine on your back. Your dog is lying by your side sleeping. Ahhh life is good.......:C
If you are traveling with your computer keep us updated on where you are and what you are doing and then you will be traveling with a bunch of friends.

RE: Corporate owned RV parks vs family owned- RGV

I can only speak from my expierence.
I can tell you about 3 Parks in the RGV that are owned by an individual. Llano Grande, Victoria Palms and Alamo Palms are owned by a Canadian. When the owner is in town he has a Park Model in Victoria Palms that he stays at. He makes frequent visits during the winter months. The owner does not do hands on managing. He has lots of people under him that do all of the that. He has made it known that he is available to receive input from the residents. When he is in town he is also available for questions at the Park meetings. I would say these parks (2 of them anyway) are in the upper price range. They have lots of amenities and lots of activities. Very well maintained Parks.
Bentson Palms Village is also family owned and I will let someone else speak for that Park.
